For the first time ever a Pope has addressed a joint session of Congress. Pope Francis discussed climate change, halting wars and violence, ending the death penalty, and the plight of refugees and immigrants and the need for countries to open their doors to them. Outside Congress, social organizations that deal with the issues addressed by the Pope were present with their respective protests. Emphasizing humility and empathy with the poor, the Pontiff had lunch with some of the city's homeless. Bianca Perez reports from Washington. teleSUR
