The Grand Mosque in Makkah
Masjid Al-Haram is established on 388,375 square meter of area. Mutaaf’s Area
(circumambulation area around the Holy Kaaba) is comprised on 17,540 square
meters. The cleaning process of such a grand mosque is completed in only less
than an hour. Maher Al-Zahrani, manager of the Department of Cleaning and
Furnishing at the Grand Mosque, said that it takes only 55 minutes to clean the
Masjid Al-Haram. The workers perform their washing and cleaning duties while
pilgrims are performing their tawaf (circumambulation) and sa'i (stepping up
seven times between Safa and Marwa hills).
