Argentina will launch its second telecommunications satellite in the past 12 months. Today's launch of ARSAT 2, which was entirely designed and constructed in Argentina, reaffirms Latin America's growing role in the use of advanced satellite technology. ARSAT 2, which had a price tag of US$250, will cover most of Latin America and the Caribbean. Argentina is one of eight countries with the capacity to build and operate its own satellites.
