This is one of two poems from my book, "Kali Yantra Flower," that I set to music. The book is available on Amazon and Kindle. This song is downloadable for free on the Kali Yantra Flower Sampler (https://lance-eads.bandcamp.com/album...) as well as on an earlier release, Knot Four Sail (https://lance-eads.bandcamp.com/album...). The video is a collage of home movies and scenes from around Seattle, all of which is in the public domain.
On the 200th Anniversary of the Spirit of '76 is the longest poem in the book. It's autobiographical and apocalyptic in style. I did not plan out the music for this recording. I simple began strumming chords and sing-speaking the poem (in German, "singspiel"). I believe I had a small audience of close friends present at the time.
On the 200th Anniversary of the Spirit of ’76
A light blinked out in Seattle
& a reading light clicked on in a heavenly mansion
For to better read the funny papers of my life
Listen up (or down) you Michaelangelic
Invisible fresco on the ceiling of my psyche
Listen to this if your spirit ears can hear. . .
