“Pink October” is an intense campaign against breast cancer in Gaza now that rates are on the rise. A recent campaign event gave doctors and patients a chance to share experiences and make an argument that women should get early screening and protection. The situation has worsened because needed medications are not arriving due to the tightened Israeli blockade. According to international studies, the use of internationally illegal weapons such as depleted uranium and white phosphorous used by Israel in attacks against Gaza have contributed to higher rates of breast cancer.
