When Aishwarya Rai Steps into a movie, everything takes a turnaround. Everything seems perfect and everything is all about Ash and her role in the movie. This is the first thing that strikes the audience when they watch her comeback movie “Jazbaa”.
It is a thriller of sorts but maintains the emotions in control. Anuradha Verma played by Aishwarya has a daughter who gets abducted. Anuradha is informed that she would get her daughter back if she, as a lawyer defends a convict who has actually brutally raped and murdered a woman. Anuradha is caught in a spot and has to battle between the abductor’s constant tracking and the force to outwit the police. Meanwhile Yohan is Anuradha’s friend Yohan played by Irrfan is a policeman who does not obey rules and is in a mess himself.
Jazbaa is about the ticking time of a week given by the abductor before which she has to decide between saving her daughter and avoiding corruption. Will she be able to do it and will Yohan comply to her needs is the base of the movie.
Considering the fact that it is a Sanjay Gupta movie, we have all the ingredients for a perfect masala thriller. However there are some loose ends but they are neglible considering the pace of the movie. The momentum is further enhanced by an intense Aishwarya and an indifferent Irrfan. But for them the movie would not have held ground so it is a totally actor based movie but worth watching for sure. We give it 3.5 stars.
