Working Group #6 of the People’s Climate Change Conference dealt with defending shared knowledge. It demanded measures to prevent ancestral knowledge and ecosystems from being turned into commodities and called for strengthening peoples’ traditions and ancestral knowledge as a legacy to humanity, promoting dialogue between cultures to achieve good living. The group also called for mechanisms to protect of biodiversity and restore ecosystems now threatened by a multinational corporate offensive that seeks to appropriate and modify these common goods in order to turn them into commodities. teleSUR
