APARECIDA DE GOIÂNIA, BRAZIL — A convicted drug trafficker tried to break out of the Coronel Odenir Guimaraes Prison by dressing up as an old lady complete with a professional movie quality mask, The Mirror reported.
According to Yahoo! News, Clodoaldo Antonio Felipe, 44, was six years into his 36 year sentence when he decided to try to make a break for it. Using a dress, some lovely red shoes, and the old lady mask, he thought he could just walk right out of the clink. But the guards were too smart for him, and they remembered not letting any old ladies in to visit that day, so they asked for his ID and realized it was actually a man, and an inmate.
Felipe was sentenced in 2009 after being convicted of drug trafficking for the largest drug distribution network in Brazil, the Comando Vermelho organization.
An investigation is underway to find out how Felipe managed to get the costume from behind bars. The Daily Mirror reports that the mask is worth more than $1,000.
"The penitentiary guard did not recognise the senior lady and this is why he asked for her ID. He never expected it could be an inmate trying to escape. The online price of the mask is extremely high and we do not know how this object together with the women's clothes got into the prison," Andre Veloso, a police spokesman said according to the Mirror.
