Life today, especially in cities, for a lot of people is long travel to work, even more longer working hours, being always on the move, and not enough sleep. This results in fatigue and tired eyes. While the most evident sign of tiredness is puffiness around the eye, heaviness in the eyes and head is another common complaint. Other symptoms include redness, irritation and burning sensation in the eyes.

Simple home remedies can prove effective in caring for your eyes.

An easy home remedy is – spoons. Yes, spoons, you heard it right.
Wash well two spoons and keep them in the freezer.
Remove when cold, but take care not to freeze the spoons.
Close your eyes and place them the spoons on your eyelids.
This simple remedy helps reduce the puffiness around the eyes.

To half a litre of water in a bottle, add a drop of lavender oil.
Close the bottle and shake it well
Now, take two cotton pads and dip in this solution.
Squeeze the excess water from the cotton pads.
Close your eyes and place the cotton pads, one on each eyelid.
Lavender oil is known to soothe tired eyes.

Dip cotton pads in cold milk, and place them on closed eyelids. This also helps reduce the puffiness.

Another quick and simple remedy is with the use of cucumber.
Cut two round slices of cucumber, and place a slice on both the eyelids to help remove the puffiness. These serve as mini icepacks to refresh the eyes.
Washing your eyes regularly with cold water also helps relieve strained eyes.
Seven to eight hours of sleep at night will not just help your eyes, but provide the much needed rest to your body, so sleep well and stay healthy.
