Progress-raporti i ardhshëm për Shqipërinë do të jetë 12 tetori 2012. Edhe këtë herë Shqipëria e humbi shansin e saj. Kështu është shprehur në një intervistë për të përditshmen "Deutsche Welle" Eduard Kukan, Kryetari i delegacionit te PE për Europën Juglindore.
I pyetur se përse Shqipëria edhe këtë vit nuk e morri statusin e vendit kandidat, Kukan ka theksuar se një nga arsyet kryesore është kriza dhe stanjacioni i gjatë politik. Sipas tij ky është faji i dy partive kryesore politike, të cilët kanë përgjegjësi direkte mbi popullin shqiptar. BE ka nevojë për më shumë prova sesa rikthimi i opozitës në parlament. Normalisht që ky është një hap i rëndësishëm, theksoi ai, por ne kemi nevijë për prova të gjalla për funksionimim e parlamentit. Tashme KE dhe PE do të ndjekin edhe më nga afër skenën politike në Shqipëri. Kryetari i PE për Europën Juglindore përsëriti edhe një herë faktin se më 23 dhe 24 nëntor në Tiranë do të mbërrijë një delegacion i PE-së, për të mbikëqyrur nga afër situatën politike në vend e për të zhvilluar takime edhe me liderët e të dy partive.

Asked why this year Albania received no candidate country status, Kukan said that one of the main reasons of the crisis and political stagnation. According to him this is the fault of the two main political parties, who have direct responsibility over the Albanian people. EU needs more evidence than the return of the opposition in parliament. Normally this is an important step, he said, but we have to nevijë funksionimim vivid evidence of the parliament. Now the EC and the EP would follow more closely the political scene in Bangladesh. Head of PE to Eastern Europe once again reiterated the fact that on 23 and 24 November in Tirana will receive an EP delegation to closely monitor the political situation in the country to hold meetings with leaders of both parties .
