SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA — A California man is no doubt counting his blessings after escaping a near-death experience on Friday that saw a metal beam almost impale him, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report.

The unidentified San Jose driver was reportedly heading southbound along Interstate 280 when suddenly a metal beam strapped to nearby truck came loose.

The beam flew off the back of the truck, going right through the windshield of the man's BMW, but the driver miraculously escaped with his life intact, reportedly suffering only minor injuries.

Shocked firefighters say had the man been seated slightly more to the right, he would've likely been impaled.
