Mount Etna sent a column of ash into the air from the new southeast crater on Sunday, December 13, as the volcano’s latest activity continued. Etna experienced its largest eruption in several years on December 3 and 4, according to Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), spewing lava hundreds of feet into the air.
