Rumpelstilz ‎"Vogelfuetter" 1975 Private Swiss Prog Art Rock

Swiss Art Rock band from the municipilaity of Interlaken in the Canton of Bern. They were formed in 1971 by vocalist Polo Hofer and keyboardist Hanery Amman along with Samuel Jungen on bass,Jürg Werren on guitars and Hans Jungen on drums.Very soon Werren and Hans Jungen would quit to be replaced by Rene Schafer and Küre Güdel respectively. With a few guest musicians and after a single in 1973,the band released its first LP on Schnoutz Records in 1975,entitled ''Vogelfuetter''.

With a very flexible sound and a general pleasant atmosphere,Rumpelstilz switch from one style to another, maintaining always a rich sound. The opener ''Muschle'' is a mix of Funk,Pop and Rock, quite optimistic but far from a demanding listening. On the other hand the long ''Potburri'' is a nice Funk/Jazz/Prog jam with dominant electric piano,Eastern-influences and a great ending with energy, good vocals and synths. The eponymous track is the weakest by far.Mix of Funk and Brass Rock with a rural edge, way too commercial and dull.Another long track ''El trabajador'' is a magnificent piece of Flamenco-Fusion with fantastic electric guitars,a furious rhythm section, nice electric piano and excellent work on vocals with some beautiful solos throughout.''Parabel'' is closer to Heavy-Kraut Rock with very strong guitar playing by Schafer and a pounding rhythm section,a quite decent closer.

This is a very good album of diverse musicianship with some weak momemts but the majority is well-played Progressive/Art Rock with Jazz,Fusion,Heavy Rock and Funk influences.
