In 2013, Nobuyuki Tsujii made a journey on the River Seine, France, soon after he made his successful 2013 BBC Proms debut on July 16. This quiet, poetic show contains footage filmed on that trip.
In the main scenes, Nobu is seen being guided to the source of the River Seine, to a duck blind to observe water fowls, and on a boat ride to the sea. He is shown interacting with French docents, a French painter Éric Durant, a boat captain, and pianist/conductor Michel Béroff (a 2009 Cliburn Competition juror) -- all of them treated Nobu with great kindness and gentleness.
Nobu played several impromptu compositions based on his impression of his experience, showing off his extraordinary sensitivity to the sounds of nature, especially of water play.
