"Game of Thrones" fans won't like what author George R.R. Martin revealed Saturday -- the sixth book in the fantasy series, "The Winds of Winter," isn't finished yet.
Martin discussed why he hasn't finished the book in a lengthy blog post titled "Last Year (Winds of Winter)."
"The Winds of Winter' is not finished," he wrote.
"Believe me, it gave me no pleasure to type those words.
You're disappointed, and you're not alone.
My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed ... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me."
Martin said he wanted the book to be completed last year so it could be released before the April premiere of the sixth season of HBO's television adaptation of the hit book series.
Still, after several deadline delays thanks to travel and appearances, Martin said there's still much work to be done.
