Marine arrested in road rage murder of Texas sorority girl

DENTON, TEXAS — A U.S. marine has been arrested and charged for the killing of an 20-year-old University of North Texas sorority girl on New Year's Day, Denton police said in a press conference.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit posted online by several news outlets, Sara Mutschlechner, a member of the UNT Zeta sorority, was the designated driver for her friends when they left a New year's party in the wee hours of Friday morning.
While waiting at an intersection, police believe 20-year-old Corporal Eric Jamal Johnson drove up to the right of the sedan in an SUV with four other African American males, the affidavit said. Johnson was reportedly in the car with two members of Daytona Boyz, a rap music group that performed at the party, according to the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, someone in the Johnson's car allegedly started shouting that they wanted to 'f***' two of the girls in the car. One of Sara's friend in the back, Cori, told Johnson's group that their comments were inappropriate. One of the occupants in the back of the SUV said he would "beat his ass," and Johnson said, "I'll shoot your ass," and showed a handgun, Cori said in the affidavit.
Once they passed the intersection, the corporal allegedly fired two shots at the sedan, according to the affidavit. Police say one of the bullets struck the back right doorframe of the sedan while the other hit Sara in the head. She immediately lost control of her sedan, struck a parked car and crashed into an electrical pole, the affidavit reported.
One of the victim suffering from a broken collarbone was treated at a local hospital, reported Daily Mail. Sara was taken off life support late on New Year's Day, according to the affidavit.
U.S. Marshals arrested Johnson on a murder charge at a Marine Corps air station in Yuma, Arizona on Tuesday morning, where Johnson serves in a squadron that conducts weapons and tactics aviation training, reported CBS News.
