A California U.S District Court has ruled that Oculus founder and Rift VR headset inventor Luckey Palmer must face a lawsuit filed by a former employer.
According to the lawsuit filed last year and ruled on this week, Total Recall Technologies claims that it hired Luckey in 2011 to build a prototype head-mounted display and that he signed a confidentiality agreement.
After receiving feedback and other information to improve the design of the display, Luckey used that knowledge to launch a Kickstarter campaign for his own head-mounted VR display called the Oculus Rift, according to the lawsuit.
