TORONTO — Out for dinner on a Saturday night, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin was reportedly in a heated argument that resulted in him breaking his hand on a team staff member's face.

On Jan. 23. Griffin and Clippers assistant equipment manager Matias Testi were eating dinner in Toronto while the team was in town to play the Raptors the following day. The two are known to be friends, being photographed together on occasion and having gone on vacation with each other.

That friendship met a bump in the road when they got into a heated argument at one of Toronto's upscale Italian restaurants, Sotto Sotto. It's not yet known what they were arguing about. After trading insults for a while, Griffin reportedly hit Testi. When Testi left the restaurant, Griffin followed him outside, and hit him again.

ESPN reports that Testi had visible injuries to his face, and that Griffin broke his right hand in the altercation. On Tuesday he had surgery to repair a spiral fracture of the fourth metacarpal.

Griffin's recovery time is expected to take four to six weeks. Griffin has been out of the lineup since Christmas with a quadriceps injury, and was expected to return to the lineup this week.
