An international team of researchers recently discovered and described eight new species of amblypygi, commonly known as whip spiders.

Eight new species of spiders have been discovered in Brazil, according to a study published in the journal PLOS ONE. 
An international team of researchers studied the eight spiders, all of which are of the whip--or amblypygi--order, and in doing so have nearly doubled the number of such spiders known to exist in Brazil. 
The findings confirm a long-held belief about the number of spider species likely living in the Amazon rainforest. Indeed, the South American country is now home to 25 species of the whip spider.
Yet such large numbers don't quite equate to safety for the amblypygi order.
