Heres what I have to say:\r
So Ive finally played through and finished South Park the Stick of Truth and I have to say this game is awesome! \r
If youre a fan of South Park and their style of humor then you have to play this game. Its just like playing an episode. I didnt want to make a video showing too much of the game itself, because I had watched some reviews and some of the jokes and comedy moments truly were spoiled for me. I would suggest if you are going to play South Park the Stick of Truth, do it quickly before you see any playthroughs or too much content from in depth reviews. Even though I had seen some parts of South Park the Stick of Truth, it was still packed with surprises and cool moments that actually make you laugh your ass off. This is by far the funniest game I have ever played, and it does have quite a deep strategy element to the combat. \r
I played through this game as the thief, but you can also play as a warrior, mage or a Jew. The turn based style combat reminded me of final fantasy, and I really enjoyed those games. So if you enjoy the RPG style combat with depth of items and abilities then this South Park the Stick of Truth is definitely for you. There are a shit load of different armor types, weapons, and moves that keep this element of the gameplay interesting, and it seems a lot of thought and fun has gone into creating every detail in the game, and it all fits perfectly. Even the descriptions of some of the junk items (and there are a ton of them) can give you a giggle, if you take the time to read them. \r
With the combat I had chosen the most difficult setting and even with this it was quite easy to defeat South Park the Stick of Truth. The combat follows a similar path throughout, so finding a strategy and sticking with it generally works out quite well. I kept a healthy supply of the speed potion on me (aka tweak bros coffee) and used that at the start of every battle giving you an extra hit on the enemy. Any items you find with a shield are definitely worth keeping a hold of. I found myself still wearing this level 4 Alien suit all the way up to level 10 or 11 as it gave me 2 shields at the start of every battle. \r
The weapons you can find around the world are hilarious, like the Alien probing device, or the staff of boobage. Some of the enemy types you encounter are hilarious too, from the homeless population of South Park swigging bottles of jack to give them attack benefits, to underpant gnomes giving you a wedgie to cause damage. Nothing can quite prepare you for how funny the final battle with the underpant gnomes is, and this is true with the other battles that happen throughout South Park the Stick of Truth. \r
The majority of the characters from South Park make an appearance, from missions to finding and defeating the manbearpig, to summoning Mr Hanky to take out your opponents. Everyone you encounter becomes your friend on facebook at somepoint, either from doing quests or just talking to them. And some of the things they come out with had me in stitches (watch out for Mr. Hankys wife).\r
With so many laugh out loud moments I found myself coming to the end wanting to play on. But once the storyline has finished, you may (like me) have had a couple of those side quests that you neglected earlier on nagging you to finish them, such as find the kindergartners or collect the underpants.. So I finished them, but there was no real point in their completion because any reward from then on was actually kind of pointless. What would have added to the replay value of South Park the Stick of Truth is if the difficulty increased from the point of completion allowing you to then play through it again, with the same weapons and armor just choosing a different class. But as it stands playing through it again seems kind of pointless, like watching the same episode twice with subtle differences. That said however, all in all its a fantastic game, and well worth a play. But Im not sure its worth the 30-40 quid pricetag.
