This year Evan got to attend E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where the video game industry gets to show off all their upcoming lineups. Up until know, nobody under the age of 17 was allowed into E3. But this year, Nintendo invited 15 kids to come try out their kid-friendly lineup. We were joined by our YouTube friends Noah and Jonah from Kittiesmama and Caleb from Bratayley.\r
\r
The day started off with the Nintendo Shuttle coming to pick everyone up at the hotel and bring us to the convention center. We then met the Nintendo crew. We were shown a presentation in the Nintendo Theater and treated to a cool video that was put together using Tomodachi Life.\r
\r
We were then escorted out on the convention center floor where we got to play Splatoon. A new third-person action shooter for the Wii-U console. You get to challenge your friends in exciting four-on-four matches, in which the goal is to get your ink on as many places as possible and claim your turf.\r
\r
After that, it was time for lunch. There we were greeted by Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario (Luigi, Wario, Waluigi and a bunch of other Nintendo character). We also all received limited edition Pokemon X and Y 3DS XL systems! Very cool!\r
\r
Then it was time to head up to Nintendos VIP area where we met Pokemon CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara who demonstrated how to draw Pikachu using a new 3DS game called Pokemon Art Academy.\r
\r
We also got to meet Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario and Donkey Kong) and Takashi Tezuka (creator of Yoshi). They helped me design a level of Super Mario Bros. with a new Wii U game called Mario Maker. Players use the GamePad touch screen to drag and drop elements they want in their courses. \r
\r
We also got to test out a bunch of other Wii U and DS games:\r
\r
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker\r
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse\r
Mario Party 10\r
Mario vs. Donkey Kong\r
Splatoon\r
Yoshis Woolly World\r
Fossil Fighters Frontier\r
\r
At each game station we received a sticker for playing the game. Whoever played all the games received a special prize - a goodie bag stocked with some cool Nintendo and Pokemon gear. We had a great time at the Nintendo Kids Corner.\r
\r
Luigi then gave us a ride to meet up with my mom and Jillian. After E3 was closed, I got invited to go to Activisions Skylanders Trap Team showroom to check out some new figures and Trap Team gameplay featuring Wildfire, Chopper, Painyatta, and Krypt King. We also ran into some of our fellow YouTube Portal Masters, Skylander Mom & Dad from Skylander Boy and Girl, Robert Welkner from CoinOpTV, and the Asian Guy Gamer (who showed us some of his hand twisting magic skills).\r
\r
It was a great day at E3 and were looking forward to all the great family friendly video games set to hit retailers in the near future! \r
