Google may be almighty and all-powerful in the broader world of tech, but we always have to remember that it once had its humble beginnings as a search engine – a mighty good one, even in the early days.
And with Google long entrenched as the worldwide leader in search, it isn’t surprising that many people want to exercise their right to be forgotten, meaning to ask Google to de-list or de-index all web pages that contain outdated or irrelevant information, as well as those they believe are inaccurate, offensive, or even potentially slanderous.
In the recent past, Google had fought back against European Union officials who wanted individuals to have a right to be forgotten, saying that it might set a precedent.
