Footage has emerged from China of a group of people putting themselves at risk to rescue a boy stuck in a frozen river.

The video, filmed in Cangzhou, Hebei Province on January 8, shows boy pleading for help as he can barely keep his head above water. y

The good samaritans then use a ladder, rope and even their hands to break the ice to save the boy.

According to local reports, the boy fell into the water by mistake, when he was playing on the icy river.

Fortunately, he was rescued successfully and recovered fully.
