Anand, Gujarat, Mar 17 (ANI): The police in Gujarat arrested three men allegedly involved in a major inter-state kidney racket. The case came to light after 13 people from Pandoli village in Gujarat's Anand district claimed that they had become victims of a gang who lure poor youths with the promise of helping them get jobs, but duped them and removed their kidneys without their knowledge, which are then sold at high prices. The racket has been found to extend to Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Anand Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Yadav said the case is under investigation to find out more people involved in the scam. The kidney scam has been handed over to the SIT for investigation. Three men have been arrested based on the SIT probe. We are investigating all of them and their alleged role in the case. As soon as we find out other names, states or agents, we will take stringent action against them. Increasing cases of renal diseases and diabetes combined with an acute shortage of legal donors provide thriving conditions for illegal kidney trade in India.
