KARACHI: Former Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Anees Advocate is the latest figure to have jumped into Mustafa Kamal’s bandwagon. He formally severed his 32-years long ties with the party today.
Addressing a press conference here, he said Kamal mustered courage to take a stand. “It was an initiative that was not easy to take.”
The ex-MQM leader said he had put aside his conscience until Kamal came to light. I left the MQM on May 19, 2013, he underlined.
Anees Advocate, who was sacked from the MQM’s Coordination Committee in 2012 for “misconduct”,
added that he doesnt want to disrespect a man with whom he spent 32 years. I dont want to ridicule a person in public.
In 2009, MQM Chief Altaf Hussain expelled from the party Saleem Shahzad, Mohammad Anwar and Anees Ahmed Khan Advocate but after a few days he restored their basic membership. Anees Advocate was then also in charge of the party’s labour division.
“He should realize his beginning of the end”
Advocate claimed that he had mentally joined Kamal’s party around three years ago. I pay tribute to Mustafa Kamal and his team for their initiative in better interest of the country.
He added that this had to happen one day. Without naming Altaf Hussain, Advocate said that man would realize that ground is now being pulled from under his feet.

Without referring MQM chief in a harsh tone, he said “you never agreed to listen to truth. It was your attitude that has brought you at this stage.”
“I urge you to take a treatment and left Mohajir people on their own. You have no right to lead Mohajir people at this stage.”
He said you have speak truth to the people. You have broken trust of your voters, he added.
MQM chief must come to Pakistan
He invited Altaf Hussain to return to Pakistan and leave his associates in London. He was of the view that his aides were waiting him to die so they could capitalize on it.
“App karen to chamatkar, koi aur kare to Baladkar,” (If you do it, it’s a magic…if anyone else does, that’s a crime), said Advocate while referring to Mr. Altaf Hussain.
He reiterated upon Hussain to do justice with the people and quit leading the nation as its leader.
To a question about MQM-RAW links, Anees played it safe and said investigation agencies must probe and unveil truth to the public.
He clarified that he didnt face any cruelty on May 19, 2013 when party leaders were assaulted. “I was in London that time.”
He castigated that a man who leads people was asking his followers to beat up his own men.
Mustafa Kamal also spoke on the occasion, saying he and his mates had sacrificed luxuries to come to Pakistan in interest of the country.
Haqeeqi Part 2?
Kamal said when Haqeeqi surfaced in 1992, was there any chance to mark party’s foundation day for workers, he asked.
He dispelled the impression that MQM workers were being barred from any activity. He also lightly taunted journalists, saying “my answer is also to those [journalists] who receive questions on WhatsApp to be asked from me and my group during a press conference.”
Earlier, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, MPA Iftikhar Alam, Raza Haroon, Waseem Aftab had joined Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani.
Most of the leaders were sacked from the party in 2013 or before are now regrouping in a different faction led by Mr. Kamal, former mayor Karachi.
