Jorhat, Apr 04 (ANI): The polling for the first of the two-phase Assam assembly elections began today at 7 a.m. amidst strict security in 65 constituencies. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi casted his vote at the Jorhat polling booth. While talking to mediapersons, Gogoi said that the people of Assam knows who is best suited for them. A total of 539 candidates, including 43 women, are in the fray. More than 95 lakh voters will decide the fate of Gogoi and BJP Chief Ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal. As many as 1,241 polling stations have been identified as 'critical' polling stations, 1,992 as 'hypersensitive' and 3,739 as 'sensitive'.
