As my next career race is a bit of a marathon, I decided to take a break and do something entirely different.

So, here it is. Me in the Caper Monterey Stock Car at Road America. I know the circuit from my many two wheeled races here but this was my first time on the Project Cars version of the track and my first race in the Caper.

I did a few time trial laps to work on the setup beforehand and then lined up with a random grid position. Race pace was way off of my best TT time in the low 2m 12s bracket but early on, things were looking good but although I was able to lead for much of the race I couldn't manage to hold it to the chequered flag.

These cars can be a bit of a handful and you will notice that the AI seemed able to brake way later than I could manage coming down Moraine sweep into turn 5 and again into Canada Corner (Turn 12). I did knock the difficulty down to 75% for this one off race, considering my noobish experience level with car and track.

The car was very enjoyable to drive though and the race was a lot of fun with some nice close door to door action in places and a little bit of contact, usually when the AI decided to get their passing moves on :-)
