As on-board camera technology evolves, the units themselves keep getting more compact, tougher, and generally better in a lot of ways. GoPro's latest camera—the Hero4 Session—is a $199 option for those who want minimal added weight/size out of a camera, yet still require the benefits of a standard helmet cam. The beauty of the Session for off-road riders is that it can be mounted almost anywhere; on top of the helmet, under the visor, on a chest mount, or out of the way on the bike somewhere. The functionality is pretty simple; just push one button on top to start and stop recording. Throughout testing, we ended up breaking the screen once (due to roost), but found that a replacement screen is very easy to install. In addition to having video capabilities, the Session also has bluetooth and wireless options built in, so you can control it from a phone with the GoPro app, or a wireless remote. There isn't a removable battery on the Session, but the stock battery lasts long enough that you can definitely get some good moments on a long trail ride without having to recharge at all. Check out the video for more information and opinions on this cool piece of equipment.
