An earthquake of the magnitude similar to the 2005 earthquake can collapse over 70 per cent of the structures in Karachi, which is located close to the triple fault line junction, says Tahir Shamshad, the vice-president of NESPak Speaking at a seminar on “The 10th Anniversary of October 2005 Earthquake in Pakistan,” organized by SDPI on Monday, he said multi-hazards and seismic evaluation study should immediately be initiated to prepare a safety and mitigation plan.
