Battle for Bengal 56 constituencies in phase 2 polls today

Siliguri/Malda/Birbhum, Apr 17 (ANI): Polling for 56 constituencies in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections began on Sunday amidst high security, including adequate deployment of Central paramilitary forces. Voters queued up outside polling booths in Malda to cast votes for the second phase of West Bengal elections. People were seen waiting outside polling stations in Siliguri and Birbhum districts also to cast their votes. Voting at two polling stations in Malda was delayed by 20 minutes due to technical problem in EVM. Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abu Naser Khan Chowdhury also casted his vote in Malda. A total of 383 candidates, including 29 women, are in the fray in this phase. More than 13 thousand 600 polling stations have been put up including 311 model booths. Besides the general and Police observers, 1563 micro observers will keep watch during the polling today.
