At least 235 people were killed in a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that rattled Ecuador on Saturday night, April 16, according to a tweet by President Rafael Correa on Sunday. Over 1,500 people were injured. The quake that hit the country’s northern coastal area caused damage as far south as the town of Guayaquil, located about 300km from the epicentre, where tremors caused the bridge seen in this drone video to collapse.
