GOP Doesn't Want Me to Win Nomination

The Republican National Committee has pledged to back the eventual GOP presidential nominee, but Donald Trump doesn’t believe he has the RNC’s support because the party can’t control him.

“No, I don’t think so,” the Republican front-runner told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Tuesday during a Republican town hall with his family when asked bluntly if he thought the RNC wanted him to secure the nomination. “I really don’t.”

Trump blasted the “very unfair” nomination process, particularly in states like Colorado and Louisiana. Trump carried Louisiana last month by a small margin, but Ted Cruz could ultimately garner more delegates in his loss than Trump will in his victory. The Texas senator also swept Colorado’s 34 delegates at its convention this past week.

“I know the rules very well, but I know that it’s stacked against me and by the establishment,” Trump said. “I fully understand it. We had people out there and they weren’t heard.”

Excessive Regulation Hurts America’s Entrepreneurs

According to a new report by The Heritage Foundation’s Institute for Economic Freedom and Opportunity,

The number and cost of government regulations continued to climb in 2014, intensifying Washington’s control over the economy and Americans’ lives. The addition of 27 new major rules pushed the tally for the Obama administration’s first six years to 184, with scores of other rules in the pipeline. The cost of just these 184 rules is estimated by regulators to be nearly $80 billion annually…

Many more regulations are on the way, with another 126 economically significant rules on the administration’s agenda, such as directives to farmers for growing and harvesting fruits and vegetables; strict limits on credit access for service members; and, yet another redesign of light bulbs.

The Overlooked Harm of Overregulation on the U.S.

Often, overregulation is looked upon as an issue of academic concern when compared to overcriminalization. After all, it is the latter that often has police breaking down doors and arresting people, sometimes unjustly or incorrectly, or even leading to physical harm or death.

Furthermore, many liberals and Democrats think concerns about overregulation are either falsified or exaggerated.

Yet the subtle and damaging effects of overregulation can be found in the price of gas, milk, iPhones, and the unemployment rate — even if they tend to be less obvious, and less sexy, to the media than police breaking down doors.

According to The Heritage Foundation’s John Malcolm, who heads the think tank’s Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, overcriminalization isn’t just about laws that regulate individual behavior. Malcolm said that overregulation “encourages people to go to regulators, politicians, and others to prohibit or criminalize the practices of their competitors, rather than engaging in direct competition, even though those practices don’t harm the public at large.”
