A mexican judge ruled that Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman can be extradited to face drug trafficking charges in the U.S., the country’s federal court authority said Monday, days after he was moved to a prison near the U.S. border.
A source at the foreign ministry said nothing was likely to happen for weeks.
However, early Saturday, Guzman was moved to a high security prison in the northern city of Ciudad Juarez.
