An interesting video has emerged of a bird "killing" a bread crust before eating it.

The footage, shot on Friday in Green Point, NSW, Australia, shows an Australian Kookaburra slamming a bread crust on the ground several times before it eats it.

The filmer explained online: "The bird's natural food is small lizards and mammals which it must kill before swallowing.

"The Kookaburra does this by grasping them firmly in its beak, and then smacking the small creature's head repeatedly on the ground until the creature's brain is crushed and it dies".
