Ingredients:
1 tbsp Oil
1 tbsp Butter
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
3 Dry Red Chillies
15-20 Fenugreek Seeds
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic crush
15-20 Curry Leaves
1 Onion, chopped lengthwise
1 Tomato, finely chopped
1 Cup Tur Dal
2 tbsp Moong Dal
2 tbsp Masoor Dal
1/4th tspTurmeric Powder
1/4th tsp Asafoetida
1 tbsp Mix Masala
1 tbsp Cumin Seeds Powder
1 tbsp Coriander Seeds Powder
Water
Salt to taste
Coriander Leaves
Method:
- In a pressure cooker, cook all the pulses (Tur Dal, Moong Dal & Masoor Dal) together by adding turmeric powder and asafoetida. Remove it in a bowl and keep it aside.
- For the tadka, in a pan heat oil & butter.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, fenugreek seeds, ginger garlic crush, curry leaves & coriander leaves. Saute everything well.
- Add chopped onion, tomato & salt. Mix everything well. Cover it with a lid for 5 minutes and let everything cook.
- In the pressure cooked dal add little water and mix well.
- Then add mix masala, cumin seeds powder, coriander seeds powder & salt. Mix well.
- Add this dal mixture to the tadka. Add little water and mix well.
- Add coriander leaves and give a stir.
- Cover it with a lid and let the dal simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish it with a dollop of butter and serve hot.
