Art transcends stereotype in Belgium. A new art museum opens in Molenbeek as the area tries to shed the negative stereotype linking it to the Paris and Brussels attacks.A new art museum in the Molenbeek district of Brussels opened its doors to 4,000 visitors over the weekend (April 15 - April 17), as the area hopes to shed the negative image linked to the Paris and Brussels attacks. Housed in a former brewery, the Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art (MIMA) sits on the banks of the city's industrial-era canal in a largely Muslim area where a number of the November 2015 Paris attackers were from.Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the suspected planner of the Paris attacks, came from Molenbeek as did Brahim Abdeslam, who blew himself up at the Comptoir Voltaire cafe in the French capital. His brother Salah Abedslam is also a suspect in the attacks, and was captured in a police raid in Molenbeek on March 18 after four months on the run.
