Detroit Police Officers Hit By Black Drunk Driver, Fiancée Finds Out He Is Sex Offender

Detroit, Michigan WXYZ - A 54 year old man is under arrest tonight Detroit police say he was driving drunk when he caused a crash that sent for officers to the hospital. Turns out he should have never been in the driver seat in the first place 7 Action News reporter Kimberly Craig joins us live from 36th district court with more Kim. Well Glenda and Carol Detroit police expect at an arraignment today but Julian Duncan will likely appear in court tomorrow in a case that could send him back to prison. I guess this is just really a wake up call. A wake up call for 54 year old Julian Duncan him and his fiancé were driving down Wyoming near Puritan late Saturday night when Detroit police say Duncan crashed into one of their scout cars that was parked on the side of the road where officers were conducting an investigation. For officers that were standing by were injured so was Duncan's fiancé. The only thing I remember where those lights coming down they were flashing and that was it. And Dorothy Johnson says while her fiancé had been drinking she claims that the crash was not Julian's fault but rather another vehicle that caused the crash that could have been deadly. Yeah he feels bad about it but he didn't cause it he feels bad because I'm all messed up and he was wondering if anybody else was messed up that's why he went and told them the truth. He told them the truth yes I've been drinking and I was driving the red pickup and she was in the car with me. I'm sorry for the officers and everything that happened I'm very sorry for the officers and I hope they get well. I hope they give him a break. He was drinking and driving but they don't give them the reason to put all this on him. But Julian Duncan should not have even been behind the wheel in 2010 he was busted for drunk driving and because he has so many unpaid fines suspensions on his driving record he was not allowed to renew his license when it expired 4 years ago. One witness claim Julian Duncan was trying to walk away from the crash Saturday night but even if true police will probably have no trouble finding him because he has to regularly register as a sex offender when he was in his thirties he plead to the sexual assault of a minor and spent 13 years in prison something his fiancé said she did not even know. As for these latest allegations of drunk driving he'll never do it again he will think before he do it and he will listen to his family from now on. Did you try to tell him not to drink and drive? I talked to him all the time. And Julian Duncan could appear here in 36 district court tomorrow and today only one of the four officers injured remains hospitalized will certainly keep you updated.
