Two fast-moving brush fires tore through vegetation on Monday in California burning more than 800 hectares of land within three hours amid a blistering heat wave The initial fire broke out shortly after 11:00 near the Morris Reservoir dam on the outskirts of Los Angeles, according to a U.S. Forest Service official The blaze spread over more than 40 hectares within an hour, and then raged across almost 500 hectares as it sped through the dry woods of the Angeles National Forest and the foothills above the cities of Duarte and Azusa
