Benson Orchestra was named after its manager, the mediocre cellist Edgar A. Benson, and musically was never led by anyone with that surname. The group's sound has been judged to have been ahead of their time as well, including the harmonic relationship between soloists and orchestra sections. After a disagreement with leader/pianist Bargy, Don Bestor, another pianist took over the band's leadership. After him, many other musicians stood in front of the orchestra, but they all kept being credited on records with reference to the "Benson" orchestra, which makes it very difficult to define exact personnel situation. As for this outstanding record, it was made in 1926. Vocal by Cloyd Griswold.
