Rafael Nadal Interview during the Podium Scholarships event in Madrid. 28 June 2016

Video: Canal + (Movistar+)

Translated by Genny SS:

"Rafa's asked if when he was as young as those Podium scholarship holders he ever dreamed of being flag bearer. Rafa's answer: obviously, no.
Rafa's then asked about his wrist & if he's better, as he was wearing no brace. Rafa says he's indeed better. He explains he's been wearing he brace for 1 month & adds that this injury's been quite inconvenient, as it's come when he was in a great moment, but that's how it is & you have to accept it & move on.
Next, Rafa's asked who, in his opinion, can win Wimbledon. Apart from the obvious answer (i.e., ND), Rafa mentions Andy (who's having a good year) & Fed (best on grass).
Rafa's also asked about the women, in particular Garbiñe w/whom he's going to play mixed doubles in OG. Rafa says he's excited to compete in mixed doubles as he's never played them & is great having a champion like Garbiñe as partner. He's motivated to compete in Rio & will try his best to be as close as possible to the goal. As for Garbiñe's chances at Wimbledon, Rafa says it's difficult to have a good performance right after winning your 1st major but wishes her the best & hopes she can fight till the end. Finally Rafa's asked on his plans after the OG. Rafa says for now he's trying to work every day to be at best possible level when he's able to return to compete, as it's complicated to be back & have good feelings at once. He's aware of it & accepts it. He's trying to stay positive, as he's been in last months, enjoy the challenge of recovering once more & try to get ready for the OG & for what's to come after Rio. That is, tournaments like Cincy, USO, he also expects to play DC, Beijing, Shanghai, Basel, Paris and, hopefully, London.
[The Davis Cup Rafa mentions here is the playoff to be played in September after the US Open]"
