Recently, Alex Lambert, the head chef at a UK hotel, was fired after writing an Instagram post indicating he snuck animal products into vegan meals.
Recently, Alex Lambert, the head chef at a UK hotel, was in the midst of an argument on Instagram when he suggested to his online adversary, “…find a better way to spend your time, my personal favourite is feeding vegans animal products and them not knowing.”
The Telegraph is reporting that outrage ensued, and his employer, Littleover Lodge Hotel in Derby was hit by an avalanche of complaints and single star online ratings.
Though Lambert has since denied actually messing with vegan dishes, the hotel opted to fire him, notes Time.
In a statement, the establishment noted, in part, “As a company we feel that we have taken all measures that we can at this stage and would be grateful if all parties with concerns on this matter could [refrain] from further damaging the reputation we have built over many years.”
The hotel also said it investigated the situation fully and found no evidence that food served to vegans had been altered in the way Lambert described.
