LIVINGSTON, TEXAS — Three women are recovering from injuries they sustained when the floor of a fast food restaurant where they worked collapsed, causing them to fall into a large hole.
The women, Erica Acevedo, Hugolina Guerrero and Montserrat Damian, were working at a Church’s Chicken in Livingston, Texas, when the restaurant floor behind the counter gave way.
The collapse sent appliances, including hot cookers filled with high-temperature grease, into the hole where the women received severe burns. A customer helped two of the women out of the hole, the third climbed out on her own. All three were taken to the hospital.
Responding firefighters subsequently put out fires caused by the spilled grease.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently investigating what caused the floor collapse.
