[email protected] Aug 21, 2016 – INDEPENDENCE, Mo. –Independence police say they found assault rifles, body armor and a small explosive inside a stolen truck Saturday.
The Kansas City Star reports Independence officers pulled over a white pickup truck at 3:08 a.m. Saturday at a Conoco gas station in Sugar Creek after noticing stolen plates on the vehicle.
The bomb squad squad was called after spotting a suspicious device. They destroyed it with a controlled blast.
Two people were taken into custody.
Police haven’t released information about the suspects in custody.
Formal charges are pending.
