In recent months, the group White Lives Matter has been involved in a number of demonstrations, often carrying Confederate flags and signs referencing a white supremacist motto.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, or SPLC, has taken notice and recently declared it a hate group.
As such, White Lives Matter will be included on the organization’s next ‘Hate Map,’ scheduled for release in February.
Speaking to the Houston Chronicle, Heidi Beirich, the director of the SPLC’s Intelligence Report, commented, “I can’t speak to how many chapters will be listed, but it’s clear that the leadership of the group, the ends of the group ― it’s just a flat-out white supremacist group. The ideology behind it, the racist leaders, everything about it is racist.”
White Lives Matter is led by Rebecca Barnette, who also serves as vice president of the skinhead collective Aryan Strikeforce, women’s division.
