The vehicle was one of three transporting members and staff of the Legacy High School football team, which had just returned from a game in California.
According to the Denver Post, as the bus was leaving the airport, it, for reasons unknown, headed back towards the facility.
Soon after, the vehicle veered off a road and into a large concrete pillar, notes KMGH.
Of the roughly 28 on board, as many as 20 were taken to area hospitals.
Two individuals were listed in critical condition and 2 in serious condition.
According to a tweet by the school district, 15 students sustained injuries of a non-life threatening nature.
