PROVO, UTAH — Cheerleaders at a high school in Provo, Utah, were told their uniforms for game day were banned after a male student told the school counselor that the outfits gave him “impure” thoughts.
The school, Timpview High School, where the complaint was made, is located in a predominantly Mormon area. The cheerleading squad is made up of 44 teenaged girls, who have raised their own voice in opposition of the ban.
“One guy can't control 44 girls on our team,” senior cheerleader Tess Rozier told Fox13.
“I kind of felt like it's the school almost supporting a rape culture,” said another cheerleader JoAnna Johnson.
But school officials said there was never a ban on the uniforms and that they are looking into whether or not a complaint was actually filed.
