In a scripted speech given in Pittsburgh on Thursday, Donald Trump commented on the situation in Charlotte, noting the conflict is adversely affecting the way people in other nations view the U.S.
He said, “Many Americans are watching the unrest in Charlotte unfolding right before their eyes on the TV screens. Others are witnessing the chaos and the violence first hand. Our country looks bad to the world, especially when we are supposed to be the world's leader. How can we lead when we can't even control our own cities?"
Trump also noted, “America desperately needs unity, and it needs the spirit of togetherness…” and suggested he is the one who can bring people together.
