FARC ratifies peace deal, eyes transition to political party

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) declared the end of its 52-year war Friday as it ratified a historic peace deal with the government, and said that a "founding congress" for the new political party the group will transition into will be held no later than May 2017, if the deal is implemented as agreed upon.
