Several experts have publicly criticized Donald Trump's economic plan, largely saying that the rates of growth he is projecting are “unrealistic.”
Experts are speaking out about the ambitious projections Donald Trump has provided in his proposed economic policy.
In fact, a recent report by The Hill states, “Trump’s bold claims are eliciting scoffs from economists, who argue that such numbers are difficult if not outright impossible to meet.”
According to the Republican nominee’s fact sheet, his “...plan would conservatively boost growth to 3.5 percent per year on average...with the potential to reach a 4% growth rate.”
However, The Hill quotes Mark Zandi, the chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, as saying, “His growth expectations are not realistic. The economy's potential growth is 2 percent, and to get stronger growth will require immigration reform…[which] he is strongly opposed to...”
The Chief Economics Correspondent for the Wall Street Journal expressed similar sentiments on Fox Business, telling Maria Bartiromo, “...we have to hold [Trump’s] feet to the fire on this idea that he can get the economy growing at a 4 percent growth rate. That’s just unrealistic.”
Stan Veuger, a member of the conservative American Enterprise Institute, described the Republican nominee’s plan in even stronger language, telling The Hill, “He doesn’t really know what he’s talking about, and his policy platform is so incoherent that he has to make claims like that.”
