A huge sinkhole appeared near Hakata Station in downtown Fukuoka in the early hours of Tuesday, November 8.
The sinkhole caused major disruption to traffic in the southern Japanese city, with roads closed, as well as power and internet outages that shut down part of Kumamoto Bank’s ATM network, according to NHK. No injuries were reported. The sinkhole occurred near construction work to extend the Nanakuma subway line.
